Description
Bechtel was awarded the contract for the
construction of a combined steam and gas power
plant at Hsin Tao in Taiwan. A 600 MW power
plant was to be built taking into account a
severe seismic risk at the isle of Taiwan. For
condensing the steam, an air-cooled condenser
was selected. Engineering was done at the HTE
Offices in Brussels, procurement was set up
by the Purchase Department in Brussels. The
Project Leader was in charge of full coordination
of all procurement contracts until final commissioning
on site.
Product description:
An air-cooled condenser is composed of
structural steel that will support the 22m high
fan deck. Electric fans blow air into the heat
exchangers. These are installed in an A-frame
on top of the fan deck. Ducting is leading the
steam under 150 mbar vacuum conditions over
the heat exchangers allowing the steam to condense.
Incoming TOP is the turbine steam outlet, outgoing
TOP the circulation pumps.
